Since 1993, we’ve been providing accurate and timely real estate appraisals in Halifax. Our team started out of a shared passion for helping people. Partners Greg Lockyer and Chris Flick first worked together as realtors and later were mentored by some of the best known appraisers in Halifax. Stephen Horswill joined as a partner in 1999, adding his business knowledge from an BBA at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax to expand the commercial appraisal portion of the company.

Greg Lockyer CRA, P.App, B.Sc. Real Estate Appraiser, Partner.

Greg is a founding member and partner of Alderney Real Estate Appraisals. Since the company’s launch in April 1993, he’s guided the team to provide quality work and a personal, hands-on approach to service. He feels proud and fortunate to have brought on a hardworking team of appraisers that share this vision.

Greg is a born-and-raised local resident of Dartmouth. His university studies led to a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science before he found his calling and career in real estate in 1980. He then earned the CRA designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada and remains actively involved the industry, including mentoring and reviewing junior, candidate members work as they work to became part of the team.

Greg cares deeply about the community he lives in and serves. He personally volunteers for local causes, fundraisers, and is a long time member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Dartmouth.

When he’s not providing real estate appraisals, Greg plays guitar, enjoys taking in a round of golf, and spends time with his family and golden retriever, Roxy.

Christopher Flick AACI, P.App, Real Estate Appraiser, Partner.

Chris has been in the Halifax real estate industry since 1985 and is a partner of Alderney Real Estate Appraisals.  He is one of the few local appraisers that have earned both the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) and Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designations.

His appraisal experience is extensive and includes a wide variety of properties throughout Nova Scotia.  Chris specializes in residential properties including single-family homes and large apartment buildings. He prides himself on his thoroughness and professionalism.

Chris is also actively involved in the community and until recently was the head coach of the Dartmouth High School Varsity Basketball Team. Dartmouth High recently presented Chris with The Outstanding Service Award, in recognition for his years of dedication and service to the school.

Steve Horswill AACI, P.App, B.Comm. Real Estate Appraiser, Partner.

Steve takes pride in providing real estate appraisals and consulting in Halifax. He has been appraising real estate and providing consulting services in Halifax since 1988. As real estate is one of the most important investments a person or party makes, he strives to develop reliable and accurate market value estimates and help clients make best decision regarding real estate. In the past, he appraised and consulted for a wide variety of real estate clients and functions.

When not appraising, Steve helps run Alderney Appraisals as a partner and volunteers for a number of local not-for-profit boards, including a local aquatic club, soup kitchen, and notably served as President of the Nova Scotia Real Estate Appraisers Association.

His hobbies include rowing and scuba diving, and he used to own a Hunter 27 sailboat.
